tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush

By Megs
OK, I definitely blame Sophia of Tattooed Tealady for my urge to purchase this blush for myself. She asked for one in the swap we did. Unfortunately, I either ordered the wrong colour or Sephora sent the wrong colour. Sophia asked for Tipsy and we got Dollface. Quite different colours, and I wanted to replicate Tipsy as closely as I could with another blush. So I went on a hunt throughout the interwebs, to learn why this tarte blush is so special and what I could find that would be slightly similar that I could possibly buy locally. Similar blushes? Nary a one. tarte is special, check out this page about Amazonian clay on tarte's site. The Amazonian baked clay they use is special. It’s good for your skin. It lasts 12 hours!

I settled on a Milani baked blush for Sophia. But it was too late. tarte Amazonian clay blush was in my head. After my peach Joe Fresh blush turned pink, I decided I needed a peachy/coral blush. I chose Glisten, for the obvious gold glitter in the blush. It’s really pretty. It’s pretty in the pan, it’s pretty on my skin, the pigmentation of it is lovely. This blush lasts all day. I had my doubts about the 12 hour claims. I might come off as a total cynic (or just too intelligent to buy into any old claim a company makes about its products) but I didn't really think it would last longer than your average blush. The first day I wore it I was pleased (and surprised) to notice on my lunch break that I was still wearing blush! It looked freshly applied! This is my fave blush right now for sure. I can't see myself straying from it for as long as it lasts. And then? Well, time to try something new!

Have you tried this blush? What are your thoughts on it? If you haven't tried it, what is your favourite blush and why?

  1. That looks amazing! Although dollface looks nice too (from the link) :) Will you be doing any swatches of this?

  2. I'm gonna say no on the swatching - I'm not a good enough photographer to take a good swatching photo. It's more than just putting some blush on my arm, it's about getting the lighting right to capture what the blush actually looks like and that is where I lack the skill.

    1. Fair enough! The lighting is pretty terrible in my house so I'm not motivated to do many swatches myself :)
